STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST – AUSTIN KLEON

The great Picasso said – “ART IS A THEIF”

Austin kleon researches a lot about business and finds that nothing is original in this world.

“Everything is copied”

And they wrote a book called “steal like an artist”

Kleon’s believes that when people give you advice, they’re really just talking to themselves in the past.

An artist looks at the world by figuring out what’s worth stealing and then moves on to the next thing. When you look at the world this way, you stop worrying about what’s “good” and what’s “bad”—there’s only stuff worth stealing, and stuff that’s not worth stealing.

A good artist understands that nothing comes from nowhere. All creative work builds on what came before. Nothing is completely original.

Here, kleon’s discuss some points that define how everything is copied and why a copied thing makes you a genius.

#  NOTHING IS ORIGINAL

The author said in this world people cope with another and everythinduplicatedicate.

But it depends upon how much copied you are?

Sometimes you copied another one completely and it is definitely duplicate.

But when someone is inspired by others and make a mixture of many arts then it is definitely in the situation of research and new things. In this condition, only the researcher knows that how they copied these things.

“GOOD ARTIST COPY

GREAT ARTIST STEAL”

Kleon’s also says that people believe that the person who does some creative thing. They think that creativity is an inborn trait.

While nothing is original...

5-benefits-of-reading-books

In a simple example, Mick Pearce is the founder of Eastgate centre.

This is the biggest building in the world which provide a coolness without any AC.

Everyone harshly believes that this building is really amazing and the creator of this building means Mick is another level of thinker.

What no one knows is that Mick copied Termite mound which is the coolest mountain just because of their design.

Similarly, bullet train is copied from kingfisher ( a bird with a sharp nose)

And similarly, all the thing which is an exit on this earth is copied by someone.

“90% of the Ideas are borrowed from somewhere”

#  START COPING YOUR HEROES

“If you steal from one person it’s plagiarism, but if you steal from many it’s research”

Start copying your heroes.

Not exactly but by the mixture of many.

“If you’re out of ideas, wash the dishes. Take a really long walk. Stare at a spot on the wall for as long as you can.”

“Do good work and share it with people.”

“If you talk about someone on the Internet, they will find out.”

“The best way to vanquish your enemies on the Internet? Ignore them. The best way to make friends on the Internet? Say nice things about them.”

Similarly, the best way to do something great in your passion starts coping with your heroes who are on top of this field.

#  BUILD YOUR OWN WORLD

Creativity is not about what you select but it’s about what you reject.

You are the mashup version of your influencers.

“In this age of information abundance and overload, those who get ahead will be the folks who figure out what to leave out, so they can concentrate on what’s really important to them.”

“The way to get over creative block is to simply place some constraints on yourself.”

“The right constraints can lead to your very best work.”

You are inspired by someone and you start copying them is ok.

But create your own world on them.

Try to learn reverse engineering.

This means go for your version by copying another.
